After the KKB Attack, Aminggaru Airport Activities Will Reopen As Soon As Possible

The head of the Puncak Police Resort in Papua, Police Commissioner I Nyoman Punia, said they continue to coordinate with relevant parties to speed up the operation of Aminggaru Airport in Ilaga. The airport has been closed for several days following an attack by an armed criminal group (KKB).

"We are still coordinating for security so that airport activities can reopen as soon as possible. Since it was closed last Saturday (19/2), until now there have been no flights to Aminggaru Airport, Ilaga," he said when contacted by Antara from Timika, Tuesday (22/22/2020). 2/2022).

According to him, the security situation in Ilaga, the capital of Puncak Regency, is still conducive. However, the joint military and police forces in the area are still on standby to anticipate possible follow-up attacks by armed groups. "The situation in Ilaga is still conducive, but we TNI-Polri are still on standby," he said.

Nyoman said that until now there have been no additional troops to strengthen security in Puncak Regency. Security in the area still relies on personnel from the Puncak Polres, the Ilaga Koramil, plus a number of task force personnel who are still in Ilaga.

Referring to the residents who fled to the Puncak Polres and the Ilaga Koramil Headquarters after the attack and burning of a number of buildings by armed groups, he said that until now several residents who live in the outskirts of Ilaga are still temporarily taking refuge at the homes of relatives in Ilaga. "There are indeed some residents in the outskirts of the city who have secured themselves to the city. We asked them to temporarily go to the city because we cannot monitor their security because they are too far on the outskirts," said Nyoman.

Previously, several families had fled to the Puncak Police Headquarters in Ilaga. But now the families have returned to their respective families' homes in Ilaga.
