The rowing arena in Youtefa Bay, Jayapura, which is in the process of being completed for the XX Papua PON 2021, is unique.
The official page of PB PON Papua shows Nindya Karya working on the rowing arena together with the roller skating arena. The total contract reached Rp 128 billion.
"The contract for the rowing arena is Rp. 14 billion," said engineer from Nindya Karya Muhammad Fikri.
Fikri explained that 97 percent of the rowing arena has been completed for work on reclaimed land.
Projects at this location include a boat shed building, finishing tower, and paving.
Meanwhile, the construction of the monitoring tower is only about 30 percent.
According to Muhammad Fikri, the budget for the monitoring tower is Rp 4 billion.
Fikri added that the construction of the rowing arena is unique.
"Seven monitoring towers were built above the sea," said Muhammad Fikri.
According to Fikri, the monitoring tower above the sea is the only complete rowing arena in Indonesia.
"The rowing monitoring tower in Palembang was built on the mainland," said Muhammad Fikri.
Previously, after returning from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Indonesian rower Mutiara Rahma Putri immediately focused on PON XX Papua 2021.
"I am currently undergoing self-isolation first," said Mutiara who arrived in Indonesia on Thursday (29/7/2021).
At the PON event later, Mutiara will appear to defend the rowing team of Jambi Province.
Currently, the Jambi rowing team is practicing in the Pangalengan area, West Java.
"After self-isolation, I will go to Pangalengan," said Mutiara, who is also the youngest athlete in the Indonesian contingent at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Mutiara Rahma Putri added that at the XX Papua PON 2021 later, she will compete in two rowing numbers.
The first number is the women's lightweight singles scull.
"The second is the women's lightweight double scull," he said.
At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Mutiara and her partner Melani Putri appeared in the women's lightweight doubles scull number.
In Final C, Mutiara and Melani were in the last position with a time of 7 minutes 25.06 seconds.
PON XX Papua 2021 will take place on 2-15 October 2021.
Rowing will take place in Youtefa Bay, Jayapura City.
"In the PON later, I will also compete with seniors," said Mutiara Rahma Putri, who is now 17 years old.
