Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud Md ensured that the government and all committees were ready to hold the National Sports Week or PON XX and National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) XVI in Papua.
"The government at the central and regional levels is ready to organize PON with the principle of let's be healthy through PON and Peparnas, but also don't forget to maintain health protocols," said Mahfud Md, Thursday, August 19, 2021.
The two national sports agendas are scheduled to be held in October 2021 and November 2021. According to Mahfud Md, before the Papua PON is held on October 2-15 2021 and Peparnas on November 2-15 2021, there will be preliminary activities.
These activities include preliminary matches, the arrival of athletes, which the committee will begin to carry out around September 20-23 2021. Regarding facilities such as the location of sports competitions, according to him, in general they have been completed. Meanwhile, technical issues will be resolved before 20 September 2021.
In addition, he continued, the Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali has coordinated with various other institutions and ministries so that the two national sports agendas run smoothly. "Let's all support this. We hope that all of them will build a conducive situation from a political, legal and security point of view," said Mahfud Md regarding the XX PON in Papua.
