The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) soccer coach team bagged 26 players selected from several districts and will then take part in a training camp (TC) to prepare for PON 2021 Papua.
The Head Coach of the NTT Team, Ricky Nelson, said that the selection stage was carried out in three districts, namely East Flores Regency, Ende Regency and South Central Timor Regency (TTS).
He said, there were 26 players who had passed the selection and met the expectations of the coaching team, but his party still needed four more players to then be able to attend the training camp in 2021.
"Our target is 30 players, now there are still four less. We are monitoring it and there will be more selections in the next few weeks to meet the quota," he said.
According to him, players who have not passed the selection still have the opportunity to be summoned because during the training camp itself there will be a re-selection to find the best in the squad they hold.
He added that those who passed the selection in the three districts were among the players who had previously been selected and qualified and had participated in the Pre PON in Bali last year.
Selection is done competitively. All players during the selection have the same chance to qualify. And those who pass the selection are those who individually already have technique or are good at how to play and maturity in playing, "he said as well as maturity in playing.
"Nowadays it means that being ready under the opponent's pressure, he is calm enough to control himself, keep playing as himself, can control the game, can control himself, does not panic. Those are all of our focuses," he added.
