Acting. Yalimo Regent, Simeon Itlay, held a meeting with Bawaslu at the Bawaslu Office of Yalimo Regency, Papua Province, to discuss the neutrality of the state civil apparatus (ASN) in the 2020 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) in the region.
"I received reports that there were a number of ASNs or certain individuals involved in the campaign of one of the candidates who competed in the Yalimo Regency Pilkada," said Simion Itlay.
Furthermore, Simeon Itlay said that he came to the Bawaslu office and met with the commissioner Bawalu Yalimo for a discussion.
"And we agreed to follow up on this issue. I will coordinate with the Regional Secretary of Yalimo Regency, to reprimand the civil servants so that ASNs will not be involved in the next stages of the campaign, ”said Acting Regent Simeon Itlay.
On this occasion the Acting Regent Simeon Itlay also expressed his gratitude to the Bawaslu of Yalimo Regency for the information conveyed to him and hoped that the regional elections in the district located in the central mountains of Papua would be successful, safe, peaceful, and democratic.
At the meeting, the Acting Regent of Simeon Itlay was received directly by the Yalimo Regency Bawaslu Commissioner, Demianus Bayage, as well as the Secretary of the Yalimo Regency Bawaslu.
Meanwhile, Yalimo Regency Bawaslu Commissioner, Demianus Bayage, said that his party had warned ASN to be neutral in the 2020 Pilkada because this was a step by the Yalimo Regency Bawaslu in overseeing the involvement of ASN in the campaign of the two candidate pairs.
"Currently we are conveying points that need to be considered by ASN, including Law Number 5 of 2014 concerning State Civil Servants, Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 10 of 2016 concerning amendments to the second law number 1 of 2012 concerning the Stipulation of Government Regulations in lieu of Law Law Number 1 of 2014 concerning the Election of Governors, Regents / Mayors becomes law, Government Regulation Number 53 of 2010 concerning Civil Servant Discipline, Bawaslu Regulation Number 6 of 2018 concerning the monitoring of ASN Neutrality, TNI and Polri Members, "said Demianus Bayage.
