253 Papuan Children Receive Educational Scholarships from the Minister of Religion




The Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, Fachrul Razi held face-to-face meetings with religious leaders, traditional leaders and community leaders as well as launched the "We Love Papua" program, in Jayapura City.

The Ministry of Religion program is an affirmative program in order to accelerate development in the field of religion and religious education, which specifically targets improving the quality of human resources for Indigenous Papuans (OAP).

Improvement of religious facilities and infrastructure, educational facilities and infrastructure which lead to increasing morals and quality of faith.

The Ministry of Religion provided assistance of Rp. 65 billion for Papua and West Papua for all religions to be used for scholarships, construction of houses of worship, repair of schools and activities related to education.

In Papua, for the first phase 253 Papuan children received educational scholarships from the Ministry of Religion to study at State Christian Universities (PTKN) in 6 major cities in Indonesia.

The Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, Fachrul Razi said that the provision of scholarships is a form of advancing education in Papua.

Furthermore, the Minister of Religion said that if Papuans want to continue their education at a higher level, the Ministry of Religion will provide scholarships to study abroad.
