Regent Willem Wandik Supports Preservation of Papuan Regional Cultural Arts

The Regent of Puncak Willem Wandik, SE, M.Si gave his attention to the Konak Papua Acoustic music group specializing in bringing mother-language songs in an effort to preserve the culture that is the identity of the Papuan Nation so that it does not go extinct with the progress of the times.

Attention is given in the form of music equipment that was handed over during an art concert at the residence of the Regent of Puncak, Cigombong Kotaraja, Jayapura on Tuesday (06/16/2020) night, featuring Mambesak regional songs and other regional songs.

In addition to handing over music equipment, the Puncak Regent was also willing to become a supervisor for the Papua Konak Acoustic Group.

"My motivation is to provide assistance and be ready to be the coach of this group, because I see that the acoustic group talks about cultural songs, social culture, language, nature and socializing about mother tongue in songs, so the song becomes a story for the younger generation, especially now the mother tongue "It has begun to become extinct, but with the presence of folk songs, our children can know the language of their mother and father," he said.

According to the Regent of Wandik, this acoustic song also tells the message of peace, natural wealth, social cultural wealth about Papua. "Our diverse assets are national assets, so let us together protect our culture, many stories about Papua, we need to protect and preserve through songs," he added.
