President Joko Widodo began handing over direct cash assistance (BLT) as social assistance for the transfer of fuel oil (BBM) subsidies at the Sentani Branch Post Office, Jayapura Regency, Papua, Wednesday.
The President distributed the aid accompanied by Social Minister Tri Rismaharini and SOE Minister Erick Thohir.
"Today we have started the distribution of BLT BBM given to the public for four months, Rp. 150,000 per month, so a total of Rp. 600,000, and given twice," said President Jokowi during the handover of BLT BBM, as witnessed virtually via the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube account. , Wednesday.
The President explained that the distribution of BLT BBM was given to 20.6 million beneficiaries with an amount of Rp. 150,000 per person for four months.
The assistance was paid in the amount of IDR 300 thousand by the Ministry of Social Affairs twice, through various channels of the Indonesian Post Office.
The President explained that BLT as a social cushion was given to maintain people's purchasing power, especially with the tendency of price increases due to global influences in recent times.
As is known, the Government has budgeted for social assistance with a total of Rp. 24.17 trillion, which consists of three types of assistance, namely, first, Direct Cash Assistance for 20.65 million community groups of Rp. 150 thousand for four times, with a total budget of Rp. 12.4 trillion.
Second, wage subsidy assistance to 16 million workers with a maximum salary of Rp. 3.5 million per month, amounting to Rp. 600 thousand which is paid once with a budget of Rp. 9.6 trillion.
Then third, payments will also be made by local governments using 2 percent of general transfer funds, namely DAU and DBH as much as Rp2.17 trillion in order to help the transportation sector such as public transportation, motorcycle taxis and even fishermen and additional social protection.
"In order to increase people's purchasing power, people's consumption will be better. In addition to providing BLT BBM, to 20.6 million beneficiaries, fuel subsidies are also provided for workers in the amount of Rp. 600 thousand for approximately 16 million workers," said President Jokowi.
