Encourage Economic Independence in Papua, Risma Hands Over Ships and Electric Motors

Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Tri Rismaharini alias Risma encourages economic empowerment of the people of Papua Province.

Risma visited the Navigation District, Jayapura and handed over five units of ships through the Membramo Raya Cooperative/GIDI. Then to YPK GKI one unit.

In addition to the ship, Risma also handed over assistance in the form of an Innova Car that could be used for the Mega Foundation's Educational operations.

On that occasion, Risma also handed over two units of electric motors to the Faculty of Engineering, University of Cendrawasih and GPI Asmat.
 
Risma also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the Operational Car of the Evangelical Church in Indonesia (GIDI), the shipbuilding of the Surabaya Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), Uncen, and GKI (5 units).
 
"Anyone who wants to progress, God will surely help. This is a concrete manifestation, when I say many people are not confident, but now it can be seen by all that we have speedboats and electric motors in front of us," he said in the Navigation District, Jayapura, Wednesday, March 23, 2022.

Risma said there was a process of transferring knowledge from working on boats and electric motors to Papuan children.
 
According to him, the aid ship from the Ministry of Social Affairs in collaboration with ITS has received a feasibility test.

Not only that, the assistance of electric motors has also been tested in the mountains in Java and Papua.

"If there is still something lacking, we will perfect it according to needs," he said.
 
The Chancellor of UNCEN, Apolo Safanpo welcomed the assistance from the Minister of Social Affairs in the form of boats and electric motors to support independence and revive the economy of the people in Papua.

He said the handover of fiber glass speedboats and electric motors was a follow-up to the MoU on November 13, 2021, from 6 ships, 2 ships plus electric motors.

"We hope that the Minister of Social Affairs will continue to support us and the church here so that they can build ships of various types for public transportation in coastal areas, swamps and rivers," he said.
