In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic situation which is still endemic, these athletes need protection in the form of a vaccine. However, for the current vaccination program, there are six groups that are included in the priority scale.
Namely, medical personnel, community leaders, teachers, officials, vulnerable communities, and economic actors.
Well, the board of the Indonesian sports organizations also voiced that athletes received attention. Moreover, they will participate in multievent this year.
Secretary General (Sekjen) PP PASI Tigor Tanjung stated that his party has also proposed a vaccine for athletes who are currently joining the National Training Center.
However, for certainty when it is given, the highest athletic parent organization in the country will fully surrender it to the government. "Yes, we're just waiting," said Tigor.
A similar aspiration came from the Secretary General of PP Pelti Lani Sardadi. Lani said that she had submitted the names after being asked to record the athletes and officials. Then, 23 names were submitted to the government. Details 12 athletes, 4 coaches, 6 support teams / officials, and 1 manager.
Lani welcomed the vaccine plan for athletes. Moreover, for tennis who has difficulty participating in the championship. "I see no one expressed their refusal to vaccinate this athlete," said Lani.
Currently, the national tennis training is held in two locations. The women's event took place at the Gelora Bung Karno Outdoor Tennis Court, Senayan. Meanwhile, a male tennis player at the Sanita Tennis Court, Pejompongan.
The chairman of Apkori (Indonesian Sports Professors Association) Djoko Pekik Irianto encouraged the government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports to provide vaccines to athletes. According to him, the priority of giving the vaccine guarantees participation in world and regional events in the near future.
PON, for example. The event will be attended by around 7,000 athletes from all over the country who will compete in 37 sports. Meanwhile, there are around 30 athletes competing in the Olympics and around 800 in the Vietnam SEA Games.
Before starting the championship, currently every athlete continues to undergo regional training camps to national training camps. Therefore, Djoko considered that it is important for athletes to get a vaccine so that PON in October will remain safe and free from exposure to the Covid-19 virus.
"The number of athletes who urgently need vaccines is around 8 thousand people," said Djoko to Jawa Pos. So far, to get priority vaccines for athletes at the center, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has submitted to related agencies.
