2021, the PUPR Ministry is ready to build 147 special houses in Papua

The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) will build 147 special housing units for people in Papua Province by 2021.

"Special housing assistance is part of the One Million Houses Program built to meet the needs of houses for certain communities / groups of people, such as teachers, resettlement victims / refugees, medical personnel, TNI / Polri and officers in border areas and remote islands. The location for the construction of a special house will be carried out in Papua Province, "said Director General of Housing of the Ministry of PUPR, Khalawi Abdul Hamid in a release in Jakarta, Monday.

According to Khalawi, the PUPR Ministry continues to improve the quality of livable houses that are evenly distributed throughout Indonesia.

To facilitate the coordination process with the local government and communities in the area, the Directorate General of Housing of the Ministry of PUPR has also established the Papua I Region Housing Provision Center to accelerate the implementation and supervision of development in the field and directly observe the housing process for special housing programs in aid locations, especially in border area between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

Meanwhile, Head of the Papua Regional Housing Provision Agency I Faisal Soedarno explained that the 2021 budget year, the PUPR Ministry allocated 147 special housing assistance units in Papua Province as a government effort to provide livable housing for the community as well as equitable development, especially in the housing sector.

Based on data held by the Papua Region I Regional Housing Provision Agency, the locations for the construction of the special houses were spread across four locations, namely Jayawijaya Regency with 68 units, Tolikara Regency with 25 units, Nabire Regency with 30 units, and Yapen Islands Regency with 24 units.

"The total budget for the construction of special houses in Papua is Rp. 50.9 billion. We hope that the community can be helped by the construction of this special house," he said.
