The Papua Police are ready to secure the simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) in 11 Provincial districts in Papua. There are several points that become the focus of security for the police, one of which is in Yahukimo Regency.
In Yahukimo Regency, it is known that several crimes have occurred, namely the murder of a number of residents. Therefore, in securing the regional elections in Papua, Yahukimo Regency is a critical point that needs to be closely guarded.
Apart from Yahukimo Regency, there are several areas that are also the attention of the Papua Police in securing the elections. These include Mamberamo Raya Regency, Bintang Mountains Regency, Nabire Regency and Keerom Regency.
"In some areas there is still the potential for interference from the Armed Criminal Group (KKB). This is a threat in itself. But in some areas, these groups that do not really exist need to be anticipated.
For the total number of personnel, Gatot said there were as many as 5,000 TNI-Polri personnel deployed. The 5,000 personnel are, of course, outside of personnel from other local government elements.
